New York (2009) Movie Plot
The movie begins in 2009, when Omar Aijaz (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a young Muslim man from Delhi, India, is arrested by the FBI after finding guns in the trunk of his taxi cab. He is interrogated by FBI Agent Roshan (Irrfan Khan), who forces him to spy on his former college friend Sameer Sam Sheikh (John Abraham), whom he suspects to be a terrorist.
The movie then flashes back to 1999, when Omar joins the New York State University and becomes friends with Sam and Maya (Katrina Kaif), an American-born Indian who is fluent in Hindi. Omar falls in love with Maya, but she loves Sam. Omar distances himself from them after realizing their relationship.
After the 9/11 attacks, Sam is detained and tortured by the authorities for being a Muslim. He is released after six months, but he becomes radicalized and joins a terrorist group led by Zilgai (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). He also marries Maya and has a son named Danyal.
In 2008, Omar returns to New York and reunites with Sam and Maya. He is shocked to learn about Sams involvement in terrorism and tries to convince him to give up his violent ways. However, Sam reveals that he is planning to bomb a subway station on July 4th as a revenge for his torture.
